REMINDER

Trunk Or Treat and Fall Meal on Sunday, October 30, 5- 7 p.m.

This event is a joint effort with the Rippey Library Director, Library Board of Trustees, and the Friends of Rippey.

The Rippey Lions Club is also arranging for old fashioned games for the children.

The Rippey Firefighters will also participate and share information, hopefully to generate some interest for some new recruits.

The meal begins at 6 p.m. It is a free will donation.

Jean’s Jottings – When I moved to Rippey, I learned that Halloween was a fun time to celebrate! After the organizations closed and the church stopped having their parties, Velda and I at some point started going out on our own. We enjoyed the parties with her grandchildren long term, stopping by unsuspecting friends, not saying a word, of course.

Since everyone knew us anyway, I decided she needed a clown suit. After making hers, she said I needed one because I was having trouble keeping my warts from falling off!

I was rummaging in a photo box marked “DeMoss” for a picture of one of her grandsons when this photo fell out and was dated! I found the article from her column!. We did have fun!

Clown Velda DeMoss and witch Jean Borgeson, 1993 photo

Halloween is over for another year and I can put away my clown suit and make-up.  There must be something sick about those of us who enjoy putting on costumes to scare or hopefully entertain children.

One lady I know put on her witches attire to greet some trick or treaters. I found a tape of sound effects and about scared myself!

Mr. DeMoss borrowed my clown suit on Friday in his fifth grade class as the teachers dressed up for the day. We think he was insulted as someone told him he looked just like his mother!
